Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will:

  1. Understand security services, mechanisms, and identify network security threats and vulnerabilities.
  2. Provide countermeasures to the network vulnerabilities.
  3. Understand the principles of cryptography and their applications in various networks.
  4. Understand network security architecture, network security applications, and various network security protocols being used on the Internet.

Telecommunication and Network Security 

Credit Hours: 3

Description: Survey of security threats and countermeasures as they apply to a telecommunication and networking system. Topics covered include: Network Security threats, security protocol and implementation, firewall design, wireless network security, and network security architecture.

Pre-requisites: None

Restrictions/Suggestions: Course is available for graduate and undergraduate credit. Undergraduates need 90 hours and GPA > 3.0. It is recommended the student have basic knowledge about computer network architecture.
