Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will:
- Understand security services, mechanisms, and identify network security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Provide countermeasures to the network vulnerabilities.
- Understand the principles of cryptography and their applications in various networks.
- Understand network security architecture, network security applications, and various network security protocols being used on the Internet.
Telecommunication and Network Security
Credit Hours: 3
Description: Survey of security threats and countermeasures as they apply to a telecommunication and networking system. Topics covered include: Network Security threats, security protocol and implementation, firewall design, wireless network security, and network security architecture.
Pre-requisites: None
Restrictions/Suggestions: Course is available for graduate and undergraduate credit. Undergraduates need 90 hours and GPA > 3.0. It is recommended the student have basic knowledge about computer network architecture.
