Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will:
- Define basic concepts and mechanisms in information security.
- Explain various information security topics such as program security, database security, operating system security, network security, etc.
- Identify security threats and vulnerabilities and appropriately respond to security incidents.
- In addition, graduate students will be able to evaluate and write reports about security techniques.
Information Security
Credit Hours: 3
Description: Explores fundamental concepts in information security. Topics include elementary cryptography, threats and counter measures on standalone computer systems, database security, network security, and administering security.
Pre-requisites: CPSC 442 or MIS 440, or equivalent courses with the instructor's consent.
