Course Objectives

  • Define and discuss elements of analytical thinking and content analysis
  • Classify and analyze various decision making concepts
  • Evaluate the concept of mathematical modeling
  • Develop a clear understanding of probability and the application to the fire and emergency services
  • Assess the importance of resource allocation and cost-benefit analysis in relation to the fire and emergency services

Analytical Approaches to Public Fire Protection

Credit Hours: 3

Description: The course examines the tools and techniques of rational decision making in fire and emergency services agencies, including data collection, statistics, probability, decision analysis, utility modeling, resource allocation, and cost-benefit analysis.

Pre-requisites: LEJA 310 or permission of Director/Instructor (contact your campus coordinator)

Restrictions/Suggestions: High speed Internet access is required for this course.
